ISLAM IS NOT PRIMARILY A RELIGION

Early in December the UK Independent reported that Canon Andrew White, known as the Vicar of Baghdad, and who runs the Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East, reported that Islamists with ISIS beheaded four young Christian children in Iraq for refusing to convert to Islam.  The children, all under 15, were ordered to convert to Islam.  They refused and said, “We love Yeshua”.  Canon White also reported that Islamists cut in half a  five year old boy he had baptized.  We in the west are horrified by such acts, but we have to get used to the fact that Islamists consider such actions as righteous.  They have no moral reservations against butchering children who they view as infidels.  This is not new.  The practice goes back to the origins of Islam.

In previous blogs, I have stated that Islam is not primarily a religion.  It is an ideology of a totalitarian governmental system bent on world domination.  That conclusion is not original with me.  Many have been making that statement for centuries. Here are some examples:

“The Islamic calendar starts with the hijra, the migration of Muhammad and his small band of followers from Mecca to Yathrib, which they conquered from within and renamed Medina.  Medina is where Islam became a state, and where Muhammad’s heretical Judeo-Christian mishmash transformed from a religion into an ideology.  The most important outcome of the Hijra was the spread of Islam…not only as a religion but a combined, socio-religious and socio-political system.” (Solomon and Maqdisi,  Modern Day Trojan Horse: Al-Hijra: The Islamic Doctrine of Immigration, p. 20) Solomon was an ulama.  That is an expert in Islamic law.

“The propagation of their mad, bad ideology-decency forbids calling it a religion-had been taking place before our eyes.”  Margaret Thatcher wrote this in her book Statecraft as she discussed  9/11.

French statesman Andre’ Malraux wrote , “The outstanding event of our time is the violence of the advance of Islam.  Underestimated by most of our contemporaries, the ascendancy of Islam is analogically comparable to the beginnings of communism at the time of Lenin”  (Conversation sur l’Islam avec Andre’ Malraux)

Pakistani Salafist leader Syed Abul Ala Maududi said, “Islam is not merely a religious creed but a revolutionary ideology and jihad refers to that revolutionary struggle…to destroy all states and governments anywhere on the face of the earth, which are opposed to the ideology and program of Islam” (Jihad in Islam, pp 26,27)  Maududi also said at the same time, “The Five Pillars of Islam  cry out for a state to exist in order for their full establishment to be achieved.  This is the nature of Islam as it is an ideology.”

Swiss Theologian Karl Barth wrote, “It is impossible to understand national socialism unless we see it in fact as a new Islam, its myth as a new Allah, and Hitler as this new Allah’s prophet” (The Church and the Political Problem of Our Day, p. 43)

Middle East Professor, Bernard Lewis compared Islam to another totalitarian ideology: “The traditional Islamic division of the world into the House of Islam and the House of War..has obvious parallels in the Communist view of world affairs…The aggressive fanaticism of the believer is the same.” (Communism and Islam, p. 12)

Urbain Vermeulen, former president of the European Union of Arabists and Islamicists, says, “Islam is primarily a legal system, a law.  Islam is not concerned primarily with the detailed content of the faith…but with what the believer must and/or may do or not do.  Islam is 10% religion, while 90% deals with how people have to behave in accordance with Islamic law based on divine revelations Muhammad received when he was a political leader in Medina.  Islam becomes problematic when it tries to impose—as Allah says it must—Islamic holy law on the whole of society.”(Katholick Nieuuwsblad, Apr. 27, 2007)

American political scientist Mark Alexander writes, “One of our greatest mistakes is to think of Islam as just another one of the world’s great religions.  The fundamental nature of Islam differs very little from despicable totalitarian political ideologies such as National Socialism and communism.” (Librabunda, May 27, 2007)

Egyptian-born daughter of an Egyptian Islamic martyr, Nonie Darwish says, “Islam as a whole is a political and legal system of totalitarian control…The most flaring evidence that Islam is hardly a religion is in its apostasy law—the order to kill those who leave it.  That immediately moved Islam from the realm of religion to the realm of totalitarian political ideology.  (Cruel and Unusual Punishment, p. 198)  Islam fails four major tests that religions should fulfill: 1.  Adherence to the religion must be a personal choice.  2,  No religion should demand that those who leave it be killed.  3.  A religion must never mandate the killing and subjugation of those who choose not to belong.  4.  A religion must be in accord with basic human rights. (Kainz, Islam and the Definition of Religion, July 10, 2010)

Ali Sina, an Iranian ex-Muslim says, “The reason I am against Islam is not because it is a religion, but because it is a political ideology of imperialism and domination in the guise of religion.”

(Faith Freedom International, Oct. 8, 2005)

Robert Spencer writes in The Truth About Muhammad, “Under the guise of freedom of religion, Islam is exploiting our laws to erode everyone else’s freedom of speech.  We should not allow total freedom to an ideology that intends to force upon us the grim choice of death, enslavement, or conversion to Islam—which is the fate of all non-Muslims as prescribed by Muhammad himself” (p. 153)

As I reviewed these observations of Muslims and non-Muslims, I could not help but see how many drew the parallel of Islam with the National Socialists of Hitler’s era and the Communists.  Winston Churchill made the same connection.  The bottom line is that Islam is an ideology of a totalitarian governmental system with a religious component.  Any who treat it as another religion do so at their own peril.  We have only to watch Europe’s disaster as they have foolishly allowed Muslims to set up enclaves of Sharia Law within their borders and given their enemies political power which will be the end of Europe as we have known it.  Any nation that treats Islam as primarily a religion is committing suicide.
